Samuel Clemens didn't make up his stories of Tom, Huck and Becky. He lived with them in Hannibal. He was the sickly kid who spied on everyone and twisted the events into his classic novels. Lenore Hart gives Becky time to tell her side of the now famous story-- the true story. It is no secret she loved Tom, and loving him cost her plenty throughout her life.
This revisioning of the Twain novels adds depth to his secondary characters and carries them all into a future he didn't provide. Hart doesn't change the original story; she simply looks at their world from a woman's perspective.
